Moving Day

rachelbarbra:

She climbed up into the truck with Finn’s assistance, buckling up as he jogged around to the other side to get in himself. She was settled once he buckled up and with one last look up to his old apartment, he started it up, pulling out. “I think I’ve been ready since my alarm went off this morning,” she grinned, bouncing in her seat a little. They were one step closer. All the stuff was packed and ready to go. Now they had to get moved in.

Thankfully the new apartment wasn’t too far, only about a twenty minute drive. It was in a different neighborhood, so it felt in a way somewhere completely new. When they had gone apartment hunting a few months ago, Rachel had instantly fell in love with the one they’d call home. It wasn’t overly grand or maybe to some even great; but for their first place, she felt it was perfect. Finn pulled into the parking lot, and Rachel got out, placing her hands on her hips as she looked up at the building. “Home sweet home,” she said, going around and helping Finn by taking down a box.

“I can tell,” he teased, winking once at her as he started driving out onto the road. The drive to the apartment was pretty quiet, but it was a comfortable type of quiet. The radio played in the background and before they knew it, he was turning into the parking lot of their new home. He grinned and pulled the key out of the ignition. He climbed out of the car and went to open the door right behind him. He grabbed the top box and handed it to Rachel before grabbing the other two. He shut the door with his foot and quickly locked the door before turning towards the apartment building.

He followed Rachel, who knew exactly where their apartment was, and carried the boxes. Once they reached the door, he set the two boxes he had in his hands down onto the floor before digging deep into his pockets for the key. He smiled as he found it, clutching onto it as he pulled it out of his pocket. “Here,” he handed it over to her, “you do the honors.”
