Moving Day

rachelbarbra:

A small chirp signaled a new text, and at a stop sign and almost halfway to Finn’s, she read his confirmation with a grin. He didn’t live too far from her but it felt even longer today. “Excitement,” she reasoned with herself, mentally trying to calming down. It felt surreal. It didn’t click in when they looked for places, nor when they were packing up her place yesterday. She thought it would finally feel this way when they were actually settled in, no longer worrying about boxes and packing tape and wrapped up frames. But it was right here in her car that it hit her. And the grin on her face couldn’t be wiped off for anything.

She pulled into the parking lot of his own apartment, seeing the truck parked in the far corner. This was just the two of them, no friends or others needed. It might prove to be a problem, considering her size and she might be useless in comparison to some of his friends, but it was nice for this to be just the two of them. She pulled the key out of the ignition and got out of the car, entering the building and walking up to the first floor. Using her own key, she unlocked the door and went inside, looking around for him. “Finn? Are you so excited for moving day?” She walked to his room, smiling as she saw him as she leaned in the doorway.

Finn snuck a glance at his watch and smiled proudly as he managed to pack everything he needed to before Rachel got there. He carried the box out of his bedroom and sat it by the front door before returning back to his room. He glanced around it and sighed heavily to himself. He had lived there for so long, it felt so weird knowing that he wouldn’t be coming back to this room that night. He called it his home. (Even though he knew really, anywhere Rachel was, that’s where home really was.)

The heard the door open and an even wider smile etched onto his face as he heard her speak. Chuckling, he nodded his head as he approached her. “Totally excited.” He grinned and quickly stretched down to steal a kiss from the tiny girl. He pulled back to look at her, his head tilting to one side in the process. “Are you excited?” He knew the answer. Moving day was the one thing Rachel couldn’t stop talking about, and in reality, it made him really happy to see her happy and excited about things like that.
